Light and Love: Design Life Kids

Instagram has been a great outlet for me to share bits and pieces of my life. I love sharing with others new places that we visit or new recipes that I have discovered as well as my favorite kids clothing brands. One thing that is hard to find in my home town is modern children’s clothing, toys and home furnishings. I have recently discovered Design Life Kids and Kim Wardell the owner of this perfectly curated online store is so very inspirational. I asked Kim to share a bit about DLK.

"I started DLK as a branch off of my blog, DESIGN + LIFE + KIDS. It was a creative outlet for me as a stay at home mom that often involved my two girls, Maya and Senna in our daily adventures. After my husband passed away this summer I wanted to bring a little light and love back into our lives so I reached for a dream we had. That dream was opening a store filled with pieces that we already know and love and new finds that make us smile from all over the world. My design aesthetic is modern, minimal and bright. I find that if you surround yourself with good people and well-designed pieces, it can really impact your every day. So that's my goal with DLK. To share beautiful, feel good pieces that I've curated from around the world for you. And me :)"

Melt Ice cream

This was our first time to visit Melt and it was so good! The girls were sleeping in the car so they were a bit groggy but come on...ice cream people!! Melt is located just off of Rosedale in Fort Worth so it's within walking distance to several restaurants (about 15 min away) and there is a giant chalkboard outside to keep the kids busy while the parents chat. I had the Avoca/pumpkin and I loved that the flavor wasn’t overpowering. Melt likes to use as much local and seasonal produce as they can and that’s always a plus in my book! We love these tees from Kate & James you must check out their site! Mina was definitely on beach time today^__^

EVER-TEEPEE PANTS

I couldn’t wait to feature newly discovered brand FeatherDrum, Kelly-Lee brings out a flavor of personality in her children’s line that I just haven’t seen anywhere else.   The garments are truly gorgeous and sizes start at 0-3 months so your new bundle can wear stylish designs as well; I would love to have had this brand around when my girls were tiny! The bohemian rose teepee and woodstocker pants are a must have, so comfy and fit perfectly on my girls. Head on over to check them out, I have a wish list going for sure!

Broken Tricycle

Patricia Murphy is the creator behind this beautifully designed organic line. You won’t find nasty dyes or harsh chemicals here! Broken Tricycle was born in Australia and holds high respect for people and the planet. I love the uber soft tees and the whimsy designs and really, if the girls are happy...so am I.
