Sunuva

In 2007 two mothers Emily & Sabrina were brought together by the friendship of their children and a mutual frustration at the lack of stylish UV protective swimwear. An idea was born-stylish kidswear with UV protective swimwear and beachwear in bright colors and a stylish design! Sunuva is stocked around the world, from Bloomingdales to Harrods, as well as boutiques and luxury resorts.

We love how well made Sunuva's pieces are! The dresses are flowy and perfect for a hot summer day. The swimsuits are embellished with wood beads and easy to open snaps at the neck which the girls were thrilled with! I know for sure that we will be in Sunvia next summer as well!

Nena & Co.

Nena & Co. was brought about by Alejandra Hynek and is a wonderful company that incorporates unique textiles from Guatemala. Based in Utah this company gives Guatemalan women an opportunity to make a living at home so that they are able to care for their children.

Created from foot loomed fabric, the bags and garments show every bit of hard work that has been put into them. Here are a few photos of some of my favorites on the site. I suggest you go take a look...you will fall in love!

Willa in Nena & Co. Vintage summer romper

This romper is unbelievably comfortable and snaps at the bottom. Willa just loves it!

Perfectly Baked

LA based children's clothing line Perfectly  Baked is having a 50% off bake sale and boy is everything good!  Hurry over and grab a few items before they are all gone! The girls imaginations run wild while exploring the detail in their Hello-hola and Rocket love tees, definitely a plus in my book!

All products are made with the finest Peruvian Pima Cotton, which is known for its excellent durability and butter soft touch. We wanted to create a garment piece that could be washed several times and not lose shape, color or form. Being both moms we know what it is to shop for the kiddos and that is why we created a collection with fun designs and top quality in mind. All garments are produced in Peru and manually screen printed with a water base paint. This paint and technique allows the design to be absorbed and it almost feels part of the fabric. For our collections, we collaborate with different indie designers to always create fresh and innovative designs.

Let there be light

It feels like I’m constantly cleaning or making excuses to do other things besides thinking up activities to do with the girls. There are a million things to do, but of course they can wait...anything can wait. I’ve always found it hard to really get into playing with my kids. This morning I decided I wasn’t going to just clean, make meals and clean some more. I sent the girls out to pick dandelions they had no idea why. It felt so good to see them in the back yard picking out flowers with a purpose, it also hurt to know that I don’t do things like this as often as I should. I want my kids to grow up with memories like this.
I have so many regrets for how life was for my sons growing up. I was borderline depressed...OK I was full blown depressed but you couldn't have told me that back then, the house was always dark and I constantly felt too tired to play. I can’t let my mind visit that part of my past too often, it’s already been hashed out and mended but I still get stuck in regret if think back.

The girls came in and I let Everleigh snip the stems off of the flowers. It filled my heart to see the look of accomplishment in her eyes, to know that here she sits, snipping the stems all on her own and that I trusted her to use the small cutting scissors. I often wonder, if these feelings come naturally to other mothers. Do you as a mom wake up in the morning with the feeling of wanting to make wonderful memories with your children every day? I don’t want to sound like a terrible person here; I don’t always feel the way I did today, it’s a constant struggle in my mind and every second I have to think to myself “look at their faces…look how beautiful this is” when playing with them but when I finally see it….that’s when the feeling goes on autopilot and its amazing. With this generation (because I have two ya know) now I know it’s possible and I want to work every day towards getting as much out of life and giving that to my kids as well. I believe that if we slow down, let the light in and breathe a little deeper that we can just absorb those true feelings and see the wonderment in our kids eyes without filters. If you follow me on Instagram, just know that I try to take the best of my days and document it. My life definitely isn’t peaches and cream, I don’t drive a fancy car (unless you think a  Routan is fancy) and my house is often more messy than clean. Whatever the situation, wherever we are in the world or state of mind….we all strive for that same feeling of happiness and it's ok if some days our lights are less bight than others.

Dinner, Dress up and Beer!!

Dinner turned out pretty good. I was surprised how easy this meal was. It is also Whole30 if you are into that right now. I am not on Whole30 however, I do pull recipes from the @whole30recipe instagram!

Ingredients

1pound wild shrimp
1 tbsp cultured ghee
1 avocado
2 slices fresh lemon
4-5 stalks spring onion
1 pound fresh asparagus
1/2 cup olive oil
2 tbsp salt
I also added small bits of whole30 compliant bacon to sprinkle over my asparagus yum!!

Preheat oven to 350. cut avocado in half and remove pit. Put a sprinkle of salt and a slice of lemon in each side of the avocado and place in pan. Wash and cut bottoms of spring onions. Slice long ways in half. Place in pan. Trim bottom two inches off asparagus and place in pan. Sprinkle everything with a teaspoon of salt and drizzle olive oil over everything. Bake for 25 min uncovered. Remove from oven and add shrimp and top with cultured ghee and pinch of salt. Put back in oven and bake uncovered for another 20 min.

Working my way through the "create your own six pack" isle from the supermarket.

Miki Miette

I can't say enough about this wonderful brand! The material is thin and soft, just perfect for summer. I just love the little details in Sawako's line from the tiny pockets (Willa is obsessed with pockets to stick her little dolls in) to the swing back with tiny stars all over!! The boys line is just as stylish!

miki miette was created in 2011 by Los Angeles based fashion designer & industry consultant Sawako Yamauchi. After 12 years in womenswear and menswear, the news of her soon-to-be son inspired her to pour her energy into a beautiful little brand that she could some day share with her little one. miki miette is a fun, comfy collection that is perfect from crib to cafe, capturing perfectly the California lifestyle.
